Guinea: Vocational training graduates move on to the next stage !

Exciting experience in Guinea, where – thanks to the addition of some complementary activities – a training project run by SAM global was transformed into an intervention that included support for the professional integration of the young people who completed the training.

In fact, four of them quickly secured an apprenticeship to consolidate their skills in a specific trade before seeking employment or self-employment, while three others said they would finalize their steps at the end of Ramadan. 

At the end of their vocational training, the young people of the 2022–2023 intake left their training center with not only good basic vocational skills in several artisan trades but also the knowledge and support needed to move on to the next stage. 

This is a commendable achievement for these young people who, until a few weeks ago, were unable to express a professional integration objective and had not launched any next steps.
 
This result could not have been achieved without the commitment and trust of the project manager, who – with a little support in the form of distance coaching – was able to implement all the complementary activities needed to set the young people on the path towards professional integration.

          The activities implemented to provide support towards labor market insertion, in addition to vocational training: 

- 1 hour of online exchanges to get to know the project, its actors, and its beneficiaries and suggest interventions
   that take into account the human resources available at the local level.
- 3 days of preparation on the part of COOEVA to develop 3 interventions to assist young people leaving the
   program, aimed at mobilizing them to achieve their next goal (apprenticeship, internship, employment, or self-
   employment).
- online exchanges (Skype, WhatsApp) as needed, including:

• to check the project leader’s understanding of the instructions and to feed back on the results of each intervention (about 2h30, divided into several sessions of 20 to 30 minutes)
• to coordinate with some local actors involved in one of the interventions (about 1h30)

- a few e-mails to set up meetings or communicate information

                                              And a final assessment to take stock of all the activities carried out and say goodbye !
